To Mom:
I´m still here in Porto Velho for another transfer. It´s going to be the best transfer yet. One of the missionaries that... you can feel a sense of discord and anger, was transfered and replaced by an awesome missionary, so the mornings and nights and lunches will be a lot better. We didn´t have a baptism last sunday, but we will this sunday. Last sunday we had someone get confirmed though, which always is good. I saw the photo of Danny and Zac in the last email with all the letters of the missionaries. Looked good. I liked the pictures, those were fun. The ring is made out of wood, by a guy here that can make it in his house. He does a lot of different carvings. they´re pretty cool. i don´t know the son of Bro. Wright, but i do know Bro. Wright. That´s cool that his son is coming to Brazil. He´ll have a lot of cool experiences. The weird thing about the people here i noticed, is that they´re filled with American fantasies, like America is a land filled with beautiful houses, filled with beautful things. I can see why though. I went into the house of a member one time and the children were watching that´s so raven (in portugese it´s the visions of raven (As Visões Da Raven)) and their house has stairs, wood floors, beautiful glass in and around the door, a kitchen with beautiful furniture all with walls without cracks or a half-done paintjob... it´s interesting to think about. but the people of brazil are doing good aside from their hospitals. Right now i´m in a split with another companion. The leaders of our zone wanted to try a split to teach and learn new things, so our split started monday and will end today. it´s with elder weiss, and i learned a lot of things in a matter of 2 1/2 days. first was "the powers of heaven can not be controlled save it be with the principles of righteousness." so the powers of heaven can be controlled when we´re righteous. Which means following every rule in the manual 100%. When we do that we be guided by the spirit perfectly to meet new people, and baptize every week. But we have to analyze our life everyday to make sure we´re doing absolutely everything.
If you guys want to send anything... some batteries would be good... pens... really don´t need to much. only small things like that. erasers. you could probably send everything in one of those 13 dollar packets. save some money that way. I´m doing even better with money now. We made a goal to cut the amount of money that we´re spending by 15-20%, which is hard because we don´t have much money as it is. With faith that the Lord will provide i still have a bunch of money and we´re going to receive our allowance again. Faith can be hard, but as long as we do our part, there´s nothing to worry about. well, got to get going, but i´ll talk to you next week. Love you a lot!!! Bye

To dad: The first sentence is in response to his Father's question "Are we still winning the war against Satan?"
In the truth it looks like we´re still winning. We had a confirmation last week, but no baptism. We have a baptism planned for this week. we´ve developed a new way to find people. We have to use 100% mental force, only thinking in the mission, and within the hour, of what we´ll do. We can only think of our goals, 2 new investigators, per each day. So when we´re walking and we feel the spirit, we know it´s guiding us to talk to someone, or knock on a certain door. this week was pretty cool. our zone leaders bought us milk shakes. it was way good. we´re going to buy some more ice cream today. 10 liters for more or less 9 dollars. That´s a way good price! Also it looks like i´m going to stay in porto velho for another transfer. Should be good, i´m growing closer to the members. They´ve all seen me a few times, and watched me grow from terrible portuguese to fluent. I bore my testimony last sunday to them.
So we´ve got some new ideas that will make us baptize every week. Things are going along great. Just have to follow the missionary manual completely 100%. i pray for you guys every week for safety and peace within the family. Love you a bunch! talk to you next week

Did he say "Talk to you next week"-does that mean a phone conversation? That would be nice. Did he send you a ring? I'd love to see it if he did. :)
No phone call, but since everyone communicates by email or text, Andrew's "talk to you" is his reference to that. Have to wait til' May. Andrew sent Laura a ring for her Birthday, it only took 8 weeks to get here, also a 4 leaf clover, didn't know they had those there. We'll have to show the carved ring to you sometime.
