Grandmother, Mother, Daughter Trip to Tucson ---- 3-17-09 to 3-19-09

This past week my mom, myself and Laura went to Tucson for a small getaway.  On Monday evening we drove to Thatcher and stayed the night.  That morning Laura and I had our hair cut and styled and then we were on our way to Tucson.  We arrived around lunchtime, so of course we went out to lunch, then went shopping at the mall.  Checked into our hotel and relaxed for a while.  Then we went for pedicures and out to dinner and then more shopping! We shopped til' we dropped!
The pedicures - Okay no smart remarks about the deformed toes!

The next morning we went to Reid Park Zoo in downtown Tucson.  It is really a neat zoo.  It's small, but the walkways are all shaded and they have a lot of neat animals.

Zebras are Laura's favorite animal.

One of the cool things about this zoo is that you get to feed the giraffes for a small fee of $2.00 everyone in your group gets a biscuit to feed a giraffe.

Below is the giraffe Laura and I fed.
And the zookeeper who took our picture.

Even though 1/2 of Laura's face is cut off the expression is priceless.
They do slobber when they curl their blue tongues around the biscuit.

Notice how I managed to coordinate my outfit for the occasion.  Ha ha!

Another unique feature of the Reid Park Zoo is the Polar Bear.
He was fun to watch.

There were also, lions, tigers, bears, tortoises, rhinoceroses, monkeys and all kinds of exotic birds as well.  They also had a rain forest display, with a lot of animals you would see in Brazil, they even had Piranha, Mini Caiman (which are like alligators), the world's largest rodent, it is really ugly and swims a lot, monkeys and bears from that region as well as the Macaws.

Had to take a photo of the Brazil Grill - behind Laura are the jaguars.

We had a fun time at the zoo.  After we went to Chili's for lunch, then drove out to the Xan Xavier Mission, it was built in the late 1690s.  It has a lot of carvings and details and the mission is still used today.

We went back to the hotel for a bit and sat poolside for a while.  Later we did a little more shopping, had dinner and decided we just would go back to the hotel and play some card games. Laura totally stomped us in Phase 10.  It was fun and relaxing.  Definitely a nice way to spend Spring Break.
