hey family!
So this week we came back from the zone conference and two of the other missionaries from another city here in the Amazons stayed with us because there was some festival going on and last year, there was a problem with the missionaries there. It was pretty cool, one is from Mesa, and his name is Elder Boyle and the other one is from Southern Brazil. But the other missionaries from the side of Itacoatiara came and stayed with us because they had a problem with their electic bill not being paid. Their apartment owner had been delivering their last 4 electric bills because he had been traveling so they also came and stayed with us. so we had 6 people living in our house the past week. It was pretty annoying, because the house got a lot messier but we played a bunch of uno and a brazilian version of risk after we came home at night. Now it's down to 4, because the two from the other city went back yesterday. So we found out this week that the boy that we had marked to be baptized is already baptized and the uncle and aunt had no idea. We talked to the boy's mom so she could give permission for him to be baptized, and she said that all of their family had been baptized in the church. So that fell though. But we found another man that is progressing extremely well whose baptism we marked yesterday night for the July 10th which also complete his family in the church. goood deal. so we were a little sad last Saturday because the U.S. lost and is out of the world cup. i was joking around with the members in our ward that the U.S. would take the cup, but they only made it
past the first round. At least they made it further than France and Italy that are some of the bigger soccer oriented countries. Last saturday we got permission to play basketball with the members and the investigators that they brought. I felt pretty cool, because Brazilians don't know how to play basketball really well, so i was just able to drive it up the middle and make a basket and they would all be amazed... which is kind of funny because you guys know i don't
play basketball very well. that's good that you finally got the letter. I was afraid it would take an extremely long time, but it only took like two weeks. to answer your question, i'm not that trunky. I'm in an extremely good area, and the church is right in front and things are going well. time is passing pretty quick. We've been keeping busy and filling up our day which makes things seem to pass a lot faster. i'm not sure if i told you guys the other day about an experience that
was sort of funny and sad at the same time. We were trying to contact a boy that played soccer at the church the other day and when we found out where it was there was a family in the front and when they saw that we started going toward them they got extremely scared and got the little ones in the gate and ran into the house and locked everything. I'm like, man what did they think we were going to do to them? rob them or something? Some people have no respect for others..
Have a great week. love you guys. until next week!
