News and PICTURES from Porto Velho

We got a nice bonus today - a few pictures posted below.
To Dad:
The battle´s going good. We had two baptisms last week, 4 total in our ward, and we´re going to have 2 baptisms this week. i think we´re going to gain alot of refferals this week. We met last week alot of people that have members in their family that aren´t a part of the church living with them. I think they will be baptized soon, since the members of the family will bring them to church and they´re willing to hear the missionary discussions. My Portugese is coming along. Everyday I read in Portugese, and that seems to help alot. We´re looking for another house to live in right now, because the one we´re in is faraway from all that we use and out area. We literally have to run from appointments in the end of the day to make it home on time. that´s cool that you´re doing things with Uncle John. How´s he holding up? That´s good that the desert is getting some rain.  ... But everything´s going pretty good here. At night even with the net i was getting bit by the mosquitos and i had no idea how, because they can´t fit through the net, but i started looking for how they could, and they were staying under my bed during the day, and at night, they fly up and bite. They´re incredibly smart, and crafty. It is a work to avoid getting bitten during the week, but now i´m safe under the net at night. of course my companion doesn´t get bit AT ALL without a net at night. and it´s true because i wake up with mosquitos above me on the net trying to bite me. So... you might say they´re really smart and stupid at the same time. i´m glad you´re doing well. The rest of the family seems to be good too. Hope you have a good week, and talk to you next Wednesday! Love you!

To Mom:
...this week was good. we had two more baptisms, Graça and her daughter Beatriz. Graça is now reading three different books of the church: Book of Mormon, Our Lineage (or something like that english, they call it in Portugese "Nosso Legado"), and Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith. She can´t wait for the temple, and an opportunity to serve a mission with her daughter. You might say she´s taken an interest in the church. The weird thing about her baptism was we did had to do it before church... which was completely fine, because the leaders had a meeting afterward.  we got some pictures and i´ll send them to you... That´s cool that Zac is going to Uraguay.... These days we find ourselves running to make it home on time from appointments, and also to make it to other appointments on time. It´s been great, teaching so much and doing so much that we´re literally fill up all our time. I don´t get to see many animals like Brandon... except dogs and cats. I do have the opportunity to see a lot of dead things... flattened cats with the eyes bulging out... that was a little creepy. We´ll have another baptism this week, another family. it´s an 18 year old girl that has a 2 year old son, that´s living alone. She´ll turn 19 this sunday... so she´s got the opportunity to be baptized on her b-day! we´re so excited. We´re also hoping and praying to baptize another little girl by the name of Cryssia this week. She wants to be baptized, and lives with Graça who we baptized last week, but the mom doesn´t really like the church ...when Cryssia is baptized we´ll make our goal for this month! But we have to excercise alot of faith and prayer. so I´m glad the family is doing well... Love you, and i'll talk to you next week!

His letters are so fun to read. You should tell him to tuck his net under his mattress. Maybe he has sweet blood. He's doing awesome. You should be proud. :)
