Wednesday's are so wonderful at the Millett's we love getting Andrew's emails. It's so nice he responds to each of us, so both are included in this blog.
Thanks for the addresses! i did get my steak dinner, and i completely forgot about that! it was very very very good, and i even tried some weird different meat like chicken heart, which is very chewy. They have a very nice flavoring with something like rock salt i heard. I had so much for about $6 American dollars! amazing right? they also have a really good soda down here called guarana, that combined with orange makes a really good taste. Lately it can be really tiring around here and we can´t for Sunday´s but we´re learning alot... i don´t know about everyone else but i´m learning alot anyways. My Portugese is ahead of the districts that have been here for about 2 weeks ahead of me, which i´m glad to hear. I´ve been trying to work extra hard to be ready when i get out there. I can usually say what i want to, but i struggle understanding. They speak so fast, and they´re words flow together almost like one. It´s great how fast the language is coming.... Dad says halloween was boring....I got some pictures from halloween i´m going to try and send.. i´ve never sent pictures before though so let me know if it works. i´d recommend a package too because you can fit a lot in it and it´s about $10 or cheaper. i don´t really need anything yet. I hear Cuiaba will be hot, tropical, and rainy... so something to combat those conditions. I forgot to tell dad, we went proselyting last friday. it was very exciting and it´s amazing how receptive these people are to this message. This is right out of the subway in a very busy city, and people will let you tell the short message to them. We shared about 60 passalong cards and short messages. We also ran into some bums which was weird, but noone was mean or hurtful to us. The best part though, was we proselyted right in front of a catholic church... according to the rulebook, it´s not allowed but, noone seemed to mind. We even offered the message to some people that worked in there, not knowing they worked there. oh well. Also i put a story in dad´s letter about our bus ride home today which was an interesting experience. I´m going to try and upload the photos now... that stinks about Obama winning! maybe he´ll do better than Bush though. Well, i´ll talk to ya later-Love Andrew
Hey Dad!
Things are going good here. We went to the temple today which was pretty neat. On the way back though i guess the bus didn´t give a motorcycle that was trying to pass between two cars enough space and the motorcyclist got mad and started kicking the bus, driving off the side of the road to pick up rocks and throw them at the bus. it was kind of weird but no damage done. Things are pretty repetitive but the time still seems to fly by. I heard about Barak Obama winning the election. That stinks! Hopefully he´ll do something good for the country though, even if he isn´t republican. That´s too bad halloween was boring for you. Our floor dressed up with as little materials as we could, bought brazilian candy and trick or treated sort of. I dressed up as a greek :) i´ll try and send some pictures after this email. Thanksgiving is coming up but Brazil is just going into their summer. We´ve been having a good time here. My companion is figuring out how to be happy which is very good, because we all have to be around him and his misery just wears everyone down. i´m probably going to buy a rubix cube down here if i can since they´re only 90 cents in American money. Some things are really cheap but some things are hugely expensive. One Brazilian my friends talked to really enjoys video games, but one of the systems that could be found in America for $300 was marked up to over a thousand. Around here i´ve also had a few different opportunities over the past week to play a special number with a violinist and some prelude. The lady that sets up the musical numbers really enjoys my piano playing so she´s been giving me more chances to play. There are a lot of pianos around here, but they´re piled in the auditorium so occaisionally someone will come along that wants to show off talent. They´re usually not very good.. haha. Well i hope thanksgiving won´t be so boring for you! Do you guys have anything planned? It was nice hearing from you, and (In repsponse to Mike noting Laura just up and left us at the Trunk or Treat) taking up where i left off.. someone´s got to do it! Have a good november and i´ll talk to you next week! -Love Andrew
