hey you guys!
this week was pretty good. We went on splits with the assistants yesterday. It started off pretty funny, because we just got in a quick "bible bash" with some woman from the baptist church who apparently is studying theology, but couldn't remember correctly some important points in the bible (the apostle called to fill Judas' position after he killed himself was not Paul....). The rest of the day went pretty well, talked to some great people and marked a baptismal date for the 1st of May. The people marked to be baptized last week gave some surprises. The family we marked to marry last week, didn't come to the marriage center, but they started the process this Monday and are marked to be married and baptized this Saturday. The other lady we had marked gave us a big surprise. We were reviewing the baptismal questions with her and we talked about the Law of Chastity. After, she started asking some questions, and we found out she's married and the man lives in another city... which isn't a problem. But then we found out she's living with another man, and she wasn't up front about it, when we asked her about it the first time... so she has to move out, or get divorced, then get married. But her husband doesn't speak to her anymore so it's become a really complicated situation. But this week we have planned 4 baptisms. 3 from the family, and one from a 17 year old boy. So it should be a pretty good week! We also have one planned for next week, so looks like these next few weeks should be pretty good for people getting baptized. So, this weekend was pretty interesting here. It's been a pretty interesting week. The bus ride back to Itacoatiara is really draining, because i can never fall asleep, but you really really want to. This week i don't think we'll travel, but maybe next Monday we'll start making our visits. That's cool about the chance to talk about the church. Did you guys get to invite them to church? Are they attending another church right now? That's cool that dad got to make some extra money... haha just in it for the money. money does help. Well, i'll start writing that letter (for school) ... thanks for your help there and the packages. Have a great week! Love you guys!
-Andrew
As a PS from another letter he wrote, there was a couple missionary that used to serve in Itacoatiara and the sister gave piano lessons to some of the members, Andrew has been assigned to continue those lessons, he commented that he was struggling with the fact he wanted to jump ahead of where the students were all the time, but they don't even know the basics yet. I suppose when something comes easily for you, you have to learn patience with others.
