More News From Brazil

i´m still here in porto velho. I might leave this week but we won´t know for sure until it´s over. The "transfer" is just more of a set of time. Our zone leader has been here in porto velho for 7 months or about 4 transfers i think. I can´t receive the mail until i either go to cuiaba or someone brings it from cuiaba to here. they don´t mail it, they just send it with another missionary. when i arrived here i brought a few boxes of goodies and mail with me. so i probably won´t receive it for a while, but don´t spend much money on sending stuff. I don´t need too much. I´ve been slowly eating the candy from christmas that you guys sent. I have a new thing for you to try that tastes AMAZING. Sour skittles, all melted together into a bar like thing. It tastes less sour but way good. and if you let it harden after you melt it, which shouldn´t take long it´s not very messy i think. right now i´m making a cd with all the photos and i´ll try and send those off to you today. should have a good 200 and some odd photos on it. When you receive it, can you save it to the laptop too?  this week was ok. Our baptisms fell through for last sunday and this sunday, but we found some new investigators with strong religious parents that want their children to choose a religion instead of forcing them into one, although they are evangelist. They believe our message to them is true and that joseph smith is a prophet, but they don´t understand why they need to be baptized again. We explain that they were baptized without the correct authority... and i´m not sure why they´re so anti being baptized... but there children want to be baptized which is good. we´ve found them in a new part of our area that we´re exploring now. A lot of people have already been taught and just had a problem here or there. Like one lady was taught all the lessons went to church. but when interviewed the interviewer said she needed to wait a while (probably about a week). she didn't like that, and refused to baptized. she told us something pretty interesting too. the missionaries that taught her told her that although they´d leave, other missionaries would follow after and invite her to be baptized again. and there we were, fulfilling the words of the missionaries, but she still said she wasn´t prepared and refused to be baptized. it was really, really dumb. we were even led there by her kids from another street, but she still refused. but other than that, things are going good. I can speak better, and it´s coming more naturally now. I love switching back and forth between portugese and english with my companion when we´re in front of brazilians but need to say something that we don´t want them to hear. haha. i don´t get to play the piano at all, but i get to play the guitar and sing quite often. you´ll see some photos of that when you get them. the brazilians really like north american music. according to the news here, everyone really likes obama. last week i tried to email dad, but right when i was finishing, i ran out of time on the computer and i couldn´t send it. i felt bad, but i´ll send him one soon. glad that the party went well. laura said she loved it. i really really really want to play rock band or just listen to my old music... haha. Love you mom, hope everything´s going good, pray for you guys every morning and night. talk to you next week!
