Traffic Court

Last Monday, May 2nd, Laura had to appear before the Judge in traffic court because of her accident. When we got to the courtroom there were several people already there waiting their turn to face the judge, Laura signed in with the clerk and we sat on the benches waiting for the Judge to arrive. I could tell Laura was quite nervous, she couldn't keep her feet still. When the Judge finally entered the courtroom, she looked up at him, swallowed hard, and whispered, "Oh, boy!" Once the Judge begain speaking and she realized how VERY patient he was she began to relax a bit. Her name was finally called and she stood before the Judge. He asked her if she wanted to pay the fine or attend traffic school, she chose the latter. We waited for our paperwork from the court clerk and we were on our way. This was a good learning experience for Laura, as she watched a very fair, and patient Judge work with some not so patient or kind people. Though it was a bit of an incovenience, I'm glad the Town of Gilbert makes all drivers under the age of 18 involved and cited in traffic accidents to appear before the Judge, something was definitely learned that afternoon.

I went to the class last year for the first time. It was quite entertaining. Not too bad ;) Good luck to her!
