To Mom:
Ya, the phone call was a little hard because i struggled talking in English. My portuguese still isn't perfect, but after talking only in Portuguese, you begin to mix it with English, and before long you begin questioning spellings and pronunciation. It's kind of annoying. I practiced a little with the other elder in English a few days before to prepare for the call. Sounds like everyone's doing good. Dad is excited about his trip still. What are you going to do while he's gone, and have the house to yourself? My companion's name is Alessandro Neto Silveira. I guess he'll just give the money to me in Reais or Brazilian money. He's going to get me an orginal Brazil soccer jersey of the team Flamengo, which means that pink bird that stands on one leg in the water. I'm not sure how you spell it in English and i don't remember how to say it in english neither. It's starting to get way hot here. I think that this area is going into their summer. We played soccer in the heat and it was the worst. I made a few goals though. Felt good, making a few goals against people that play and practice almost everyday. :) if i could get some rechargable batteries that would be way perfect. The rechargeable batteries here are way expensive. That'd be cool if you want to send some more music. It's allowed to listen to music burned from the church website. As long as it's coming from the church it's good! We had only one baptism this week, but 2 confirmations. We're going to have a few baptisms this week it looks like. We haven't marked any still, but we know that some are really close and they want to be baptized so it's just a matter of asking. i think we'll have 2-3 baptisms. There is mother's day here too. They call it Dia das mães or day of the mothers. They don't have that apostrophe to symbolize possession so they can't say mother's day, but have to say day of the mothers. I don't get to play the piano much, but i hope they'll fix the one in our chapel soon. Would be really good to have music each sunday during church. So everything's going good here. It stinks that my old companion had to leave, but maybe he'll choose to return in 6 months, which was the offer given to him. It looks like everything is going good there too! Have a good time at work! It was great to talk to you and the family again! Love you a ton! Bye-Andrew
